Brooklyn-based development firm Totem has released an updated proposal for Herkimer-Williams, a planned mixed-use development surrounding Broadway Junction in East New York, Brooklyn. Revisions for the 2-acre, multi-building campus follow more than two years of community outreach. The development is planned to feature affordable housing, commercial and light industrial space, neighborhood-serving retail, and dedicated areas for community services and public open space.

114 Snediker Avenue Tops Out in East New York, Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 114 Snediker Avenue, a four-story women’s shelter in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Curtis + Ginsburg and developed by Camber Property Group and Urban Atelier Group, the 60,000-square-foot, all-electric structure will yield 60 dormitory-style units accommodating 200 beds, as well a cellar level and a 60-vehicle surface-level parking lot. The property is bound by Glenmore Avenue to the south, Snediker Avenue to the east, and Van Sinderen Avenue to the west.

Innovative Urban Village Receives $270 Million In Construction Financing In East New York, Brooklyn

Gotham Organization, in collaboration with Monadnock Development, the Christian Cultural Center, and New York City and State authorities, has secured $270 million in construction financing for the first phase of the Innovative Urban Village in East New York, Brooklyn. The project, which was designed by PAU, aims to transform 10.5-acre site currently owned by the Christian Cultural Center into a mixed-use urban village.

Permits Filed For 790 Liberty Avenue In East New York, Brooklyn

Construction permits have been filed for an eight-story residential building at 790 Liberty Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Jay Architect & Engineering, the 80-foot-tall structure will span 35,513 square feet and yield 53 units, as well as 14 enclosed and seven open parking spaces. The permit is a post-approval amendment to a filing made early 2022 that was approved under the New York City 421A permitting program, which expired in June 2022. This amendment allows the site to maintain its 421A tax exemption. David Goldberger is listed as the owner of the property, which is located at the corner of Liberty Avenue and Berriman Street.

Housing Lottery Launches for 681 Dumont Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 681 Dumont Avenue, a four-story residential building in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Best Engineering Tech Design Inc. and developed by Jeewan Itwarie, the structure yields six residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are two units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $84,446 to $198,250.

Plans to construct the 10.5-acre Urban Village mega-complex in East New York, Brooklyn, are now under review by the New York City Department of Buildings. The complex is being developed by Gotham Organization, Monadnock Development, and the Christian Cultural Center and is bound by Pennsylvania Avenue to the northeast, Flatlands Avenue to the northwest, and Louisiana Avenue to the southwest.

The Fountains, a 1,163-units affordable housing complex in East New York, Brooklyn is now 100 percent leased. Developed by The Arker Companies, the complex spans 35 acres and includes six buildings located at 11629 Seaview Avenue, 911 Erskine Street, 10 Schroeder’s Walk, 702 Vandalia Avenue, 881 Erskine Street, and 894 Fountain Avenue.

Developers and New York State agencies have revealed renderings for Alafia, a 27-acre redevelopment project in East New York, Brooklyn. Located along Fountain Avenue near the Betts Creek waterfront, the $1.2 billion multi-phase campus will create 2,400 affordable apartments, a 15,000-square-foot outpatient medical clinic, retail space, multiple parking areas, and a mix of publicly accessible green space and recreational area.

City Council Approves 10.5-Acre ‘Urban Village’ in East New York, Brooklyn

The New York City Council has approved plans to construct Urban Village, a 10.5-acre mixed-use campus near the East New York waterfront in Brooklyn. The development team includes the Gotham Organization, Monadnock Development, and the Christian Cultural Center, the city’s largest mega church with around 37,000 active members.

Work has begun on the expansion and redevelopment of the historic Empire State Dairy Company Building at 2840 Atlantic Avenue in East New York. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by The Moinian Group and Bushburg, the project involves the partial gutting of the existing low-rise building to support a 14-story tower with 320 residential units, 12,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and a new charter school. The entire property will comprise 370,000 square feet.
